How to Pair an Android or iPhone with Mercedes-Benz Bluetooth

Are you trying to pair your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone with your Mercedes-Benz? You should be able to do so on most newer Mercedes-Benz cars made after 2010.

First, you need to make sure you have Bluetooth in your car. Next, you can follow the instructions below on how to pair your smartphone. Bluetooth availability and pairing steps vary by model year and multimedia system. These instructions apply mainly to Mercedes-Benz vehicles with older COMAND or Audio 20 systems. Newer MBUX vehicles use a different menu path.

Step-by-Step Instructions

How to connect your smartphone to Mercedes-Benz hands-free Bluetooth system. 

  1. bluetooth iconTurn on Bluetooth on your phone. To turn it on, you need to go to your phone settings. If you need help, follow these steps for Android phones. If you have  an Apple iPhone, do the following:

    • Tap on Settings
    • Click Connections
    • Find Bluetooth
    • Click ON/OFF toggle
    • Tap on Settings
    • Select “General”
    • Tap on “Bluetooth”
    • Flip the On/Off button to toggle Bluetooth on or off
    • Close out of Settings, and you’re on your way
     On the Home screen,
    click the connections area
    at the top of the screen,
    or click the Manage Connections icon.
    Select the Bluetooth
    check box.
  2. Under Bluetooth settings in your phone, turn on the option to make your phone DISCOVERABLE. If your phone has a visibility or discoverable setting, enable it temporarily. On many current phones, opening the Bluetooth pairing screen is enough. If you don’t see this option, skip this step and go to Step 3. Make sure to use the Connect via Phone option when you reach Step 8. 
  3. Turn on Bluetooth in your Mercedes-Benz. You can do this in one of two ways.
    • Press the SYS button
    • Choose SYSTEM from the top menumercedes bluetooth system
  4. In your car’s menu, select SETTINGS from the lower menu

  5. Next, select Activate Bluetooth.iphone pair with mercedes benz bluetooth
  6. Next, you need to go to the phone menu by pressing the TEL button or by choosing PHONE from the menu.
  7. Use your control buttons to go to CONNECT DEV.android pair phone with mercedes benz bluetooth
  8. Select CONNECT VIA PHONE.
    If you placed your phone in Discovery Mode in step 2, select Search for Phone from Vehicle.

  9. Next, you will see a message saying the car is ready for Bluetooth connection. smartphone pair bluetooth ready
  10. Go back to your phone. Turn on Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  11. Select the “MB Bluetooth”
  12. The COMAND display will ask you to authorize the phone.PAIR SMARTPHONE BLUETOOTH ENABLED MERCEDES BENZ
  13. Select YES
  14. A six-digit code will appear on your phone and the vehicle display. They should match, so select YES again.
