Mercedes Benz Fault Codes

This is a list of Mercedes-Benz specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) or also known as engine fault codes.

Please note that there are Check Engine / Service Engine / CEL fault codes which are stored in the Engine Control Unit (ECU). These codes can be read and erased with a simple OBD2 code reader, listed under yellow column below.

There are also codes for other control units such as transmission, ABS, SRS, ESP, 4ETS, airbag, A/C. Mercedes-Benz can have up to 47 control units.   6. Hi. I’m wondering if you may be able to assist in tracking down a no start issue with a 00 CL500. I purchased the vehicle with the trans conductor issue which i haven’t fixed yet. I haven’t fixed the conductor issue because the smart key would not turn most of the time, the times it would turn I’d get a start maybe one out of 3 attempts then the car would run and drive for maybe 5 minutes before the trans went into limp mode. So first, i replaced the ignition set (smartkey, EIS, ECU and shifter ESL) all from the same car (an 01 s500). Now the key turns, the shifter unlocks, but the car doesn’t crank. I have a scanner that reads like the mb star and i have start authorization from the EIS and Shifter ESL but I’m getting a P1570 (No start enable sent from DAS) & P1605 from the ECU… If i disconnect the battery, for 30 seconds and reconnect, I can then turn the key and the starter cranks for maybe 2 seconds and stops and won’t crank again till i disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnect and crank again for maybe 2 seconds and then no crank. Is there something wrong with the ignition set maybe? Also, the mileage displays for 2 seconds after opening the driver door then shows —— blank right after and won’t show mileage again till i reopen and close the driver door but it always only shows for 2 seconds. I’m stumped.

    • Also on the 00 CL500 none of the windows or seats worked until the ignition set swap. Now the passenger front window and seat only operates. The driver’s side window and seat doesn’t work nor do the rear windows.

    checking fault codes and came up with Control Module – FF2 N54/3 Fault B1000

    can you help, do I need to replace control module?

    can I clean it?

    if so where is it?

  10. Would like to get some information and knowledge of the AdBlue def system. Has really become a problem and there really no information outside of the dealerships that are reliable . Sometimes with repeaded visits to the dealer with the same problem and thousands of dollars later, they are in the dark also.

    I have changed both the camshaft gear (inlet),camshaft gear (exhaust),camshaft magnet (left and right),and
    camshaft sensor (inlet), camshaft sensor (exhaust). The engine light still on .What is the problem?Please anyone can tell me.

  13. I have a 2003 3500 Dodge Sprinter Van with acceleration problems. I cleaned the EGR valve and intake. I will purchase a diagnostic computer to further my troubleshooting process today. Vehicle has 171000 miles. I bought it used. I’m the 2nd owner. Took it to the dealer which was a bad mistake. They had no idea what was the problem. Charged me for their time and never gave me any information. I’m on my own. No one here to work on these vehicles with Mercedes engines. Its a great vehicle when its running right. But a pain in the a– since this problem has happened. These codes will help me diagnose the issues and hopefully get to the bottom of my problem(s).
