Mercedes S-Class and CL-Class Fuse and Relay Locations, 2000 to 2006

Application: Mercedes W220 S-Class and C215 CL-Class models. Fuse assignments vary by production date, engine, market, and equipment.

Years:2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006  A 000 545 18 00 w220 215

Use this guide to find fuse and relay assignments for the S-Class and CL-Class. If you find a blown fuse, replace it only with the same physical type and amperage rating. Never install a higher-amperage fuse. The S and CL classes use the fuse types shown here. If you need the correct fuse type for your Mercedes, you can order a box of 120 for less than $10 on Amazon; see the link here.

FUSE AND RELAY LOCATIONS.

Switch off the ignition and remove the key before removing a fuse. A fuse that blows again indicates a short circuit or an overloaded component that must be diagnosed.

In the S-Class and CL-Class, these fuses are located in the following places:

Fuses 1 through 27 and relays A through J are in the engine compartment, left side/driver side. Open the hood and look next to the hood hinge on the driver’s side. Remove the black plastic cover, and you will see these fuses.

Fuses 28 through 49 and relays K through P are in the right/passenger side engine compartment. Open the hood and look for the black plastic cover next to the hood hinge on the passenger side. Main fuse box w220

Fuses 50 through 77 and relays Q through U are located in the fuse and relay box under the rear seat on the passenger side. Remove the rear seat, and you will see these fuses and relays. fuse chart box diagram location w220 s-class

The S and CL Class have always been Mercedes-Benz flagship vehicles. These models featured some of Mercedes-Benz’s most advanced technology when new, and the W220 was no different. Remember that during normal circuit operation, the fuse wouldn’t blow. So if you find a blown fuse and it blows again shortly after you replace it, then you should look for an underlying problem with the corresponding circuit. We have provided the list below, covering all 2000-2006 CL and S Classes. Please comment at the bottom of the page if you find any discrepancies.

The best way to test fuses is to remove them and visually inspect them. A blown fuse may have a visible break in its internal element, but visual inspection alone is not always conclusive.

Car troubles got you down? Use a YOUCANIC scanner to diagnose and repair your Mercedes-Benz like a pro!

  1. This W220 Mercedes just as no power at all and nothing works ,I mean nothing. Any ideas please ..Battery is fully charged no lights no dash lighting nothing . Wont turn over even.

  2. Can anyone tell me where to locate fuse & relay for the engine cooling fan controller unit
    on a S320 W220 1999

  3. 02 CL500 with no instrument cluster, all gauges are locked, no steering wheel button controls, and car will not start. What is the problem? ECU is the fault that comes up. should i replace the instrument cluster to fix the problem. Car still runs fine

  4. CL500…. The Relay for the horn (P) isn’t under the rear seat ‼ It’s in the driver side fuse box ‼

  5. On my 2005 CL600 the F86 fuse is not blown, but the front cigarette lighter socket doesn’t have power. How do you remove it to see if it is connected? I suspect that the lighter was disconnected from the harness and that to get it work would only need to be connected.

    • On mine, the metal piece in the bottom of the cigarette lighter tube was broken. Also, check to see if the metal tabs in the tube are bent too far outwards. If so, use needlenose pliers to bend them back towards one another so that when you insert the cigarette lighter or your car charger there is a good connection between the metals. I ended up getting a whole new ashtray assembly off of eBay since the metal seat in mine was actually broken and shorting it out.

  6. I need to know which relay is for the blower fan under dash

  8. i am working on a w221 s500 could you tell where the fuel pump control unit is located
